Connie is the 1984 Olympic Champion for the women's individual road race. Connie also was a member of the Winter Olympic Team for Speed Skating. She was a national champion in cycling, crew and speed skating. Connie has a Master's Degree in Exercise Science from the University of Colorado and did her undergraduate work at the University of California - Berkeley.
Her primary focus is her family but she is also the organizer for Carpenter/Phinney Bike Camps, founded in 1986. She enjoys sharing her experiences via the written word and as an eloquent and humorous public speaker. She has two children together with Davis Phinney, Taylor and Kelsey. Hobbies (passions) include cycling, nordic skiing, and watercolor painting. As a board member of the Davis Phinney Foundation, Connie helps to inform and create awareness that will help others in the PD community, especially caregivers.
With a background as a marketing and brand manager for two of the world's leaders in medical devices and ten years as a founding partner in a marketing consultancy, Amy brings experience in business development, marketing and managing patient and physician advisory boards. She has worked across a range of companies – from Bristol-Meyers Squibb and Wyeth BioPharma to smaller startups like Sanarus Medical and Sound Surgical Technologies.
Amy started her work with the DPF by facilitating our Science Advisory Board and is now bringing her experience in business development to her broader role as Executive Director.
A Senior Scientist at the National Center for Voice and Speech, Dr. Ramig, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is also a Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, a Hearing Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder and an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University in New York.
Dr. Ramig is an internationally recognized scientist with an established research record in the areas of aged and neurological voice disorders. She has been investigating neurological voice disorders for more than 15 years and has authored numerous refereed journal articles and book chapters. Dr. Ramig is the developer of LSVT®, an efficacious voice therapy method for individuals with Parkinson's disease.
Kathleen Krumme, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, is co-founder of the Davis Phinney Foundation and founder of the Sunflower Revolution fundraiser and the Davis Phinney-Donald Krumme Fund at the UC College of Medicine. Kathy is a premier bike-fitter at Cincinnati's Oakley Cycles and a former amateur racer. Kathy became involved with Parkinson’s disease research as a tribute to her father, Donald Krumme, who suffers from Parkinsons. Don Krumme, a retired Cincinnati businessman, introduced Kathy to cycling when she was a young girl. Kathy met Davis Phinney and Connie Carpenter Phinney at one of their bike camps several years ago.
David is the President of Oakley Cycles in Cincinnati. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, he had worked as a designer and project manager in the entertainment and interior design industries, until his passion for cycling led him to his current occupation seventeen years ago. He is also active in supporting several cycling related fundraising causes in the Cincinnati area. David is pleased to have served on the board since the foundation's inception.
Liz was co-founder and Senior Vice President at Access Health (formerly Informed Access Systems, now part of McKesson), a health care services company specializing in medical triage and disease management. Prior to Access Health, Liz worked in product marketing at Consumer Health Services and Carnation/Nestle and as a CPA with Price Waterhouse. Liz is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Business School.
Liz served for five years on the Entrepreneurial Advisory Board for the School of Business at CU and was a board member of The Family Learning Center in Boulder for three years. In addition to serving as a Board Member with the Davis Phinney Foundation, Liz currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Friends' School in Boulder, Colorado and is a Lecturer at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado.
Mr. Haberkorn is President of Haberkorn Financial Services, Inc., a registered investment advisor founded in 1999 in Louisville, Colorado. His practice primarily focuses on investment services; additionally, his firm provides tax and accounting services to select clients. Mr. Haberkorn received his MS in taxation from the University of Colorado, and his BA in accounting from Loras College. He has been a certified public accountant since 1981.
Carin advises public and private companies and investors in corporate, securities, merger and acquisition and financing matters. Carin represents public companies, early stage and venture-backed companies, venture capital and private equity firms, and public and private acquirers and targets in acquisition transactions. Carin is currently a partner with Hogan & Hartson in Boulder and counsels clients in a range of industries, including biotechnology, medical devices, data storage, information technology, telecommunications, retail, mining, and oil and gas. She is an avid cyclist, Nordic and downhill skier and former runner.
